  • About

Condiments and toppings are much more than an afterthought to a veggie burger, but as with side dishes, they need not be complicated or fussy. A bottle of sriracha and a jar of mustard within reach may be all that is needed for a movie night, whereas you’ll be willing to trouble yourself if you’re cooking for a more elaborate occasion.

I like to offer up a few of the following (along with toasted burger buns) whenever I am serving veggie burgers.
  • Thinly sliced tomato
  • Thinly sliced red onion
  • Crisp lettuce leaves, such as Bibb, romaine, red-leaf, or green-leaf
  • Radish slices
  • Cucumber slices
  • Avocado slices
  • Ketchup
  • Mustard, whole-grain or Dijon
  • Sriracha or other hot sauce
  • Cheese (white cheddar, Swiss, Gruyère) and vegan soy cheese
