It takes a village to put together a collection of recipes that are so near and dear to everyone’s hearts. Big 多謝 to family, friends, chefs, Hongkongers, and everyone who shared recollections of their food memories, snippets of foodspiration, and family stories of this vibrant city.
What is amazing is that within the year of writing this book, I was able to see my father, my mother, one of my aunties, my cousin, and my uncle. Our family kind of drifted apart once everyone left Hong Kong at various times and stages in life, but I love that it is Hong Kong that brings us back together again. I couldn’t have pieced together my maternal family tree without the help of my Auntie Elaine. Learning more about my ancestry is a project I want to continue, especially for my dad’s side of the family, which I know very little about. I am excited to share this book, our history, and our culture with my kids, Tien and Cameron. And to my sister—thanks, thanks, thanks, thanks, Monica!
