This is one of the most important history museums in China, if not the world, with a collection that dates from prehistoric times to the nineteenth century. I went here often as a kid and would dream of digging up ancient gold coins in my grandmother’s garden as a result of those visits. Not to brag, but locals often say that just one of the 370,000 artifacts in this institution would have enough clout to merit its own special exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
