Nancie McDermott, born and raised in North Carolina, is a food writer and cooking teacher with six cookbooks to her credit. Inspired by childhood memories of helping her grandmother cook in a big dairy-farm kitchen, Nancie began a long, sweet exploration of cakes, pies, and baking, past and present, all around the South. After 15 years in Southern California, she now lives with her family in Chapel Hill, N.C.
