Alexandre Dumas (1802 – 1870) was a French writer whose works include The Count of Monte Cristo, The Three Musketeers, Twenty Years After, and The Vicomte of Bragelonne: Ten Years Later. "The reputation of Alexandre Dumas père rests chiefly on his historical novels, especially The Three Musketeers. However, Dumas's exuberance and vivid style found equal expression in numerous other works, and it was for his Grand Dictionnaire de Cuisine that Dumas himself particularly wished to be remembered."
