Since coining the term Roadfood and pointing the way to America's best eats, Michael Stern has co-authored (with Jane Stern) more than forty books, including the guidebook Roadfood, the cookbooks Square Meals, Chili Nation, Real American Food, and American Gourmet as well as best-sellers Elvis World and The Encyclopedia of Bad Taste. The Sterns, who received the James Beard Perrier-Jouet Award for lifetime achievement and were among the first people inducted into the Who's Who of Food and Beverage in America, won multiple James Beard awards for their restaurant reviews in Gourmet magazine. They are weekly guests on Public Radio's award-winning "The Splendid Table." The Sterns' website, Roadfood.com, originated internet food reporting and photography and has inspired countless other media to follow its path to the nation's edible treasures. Roadfood.com annually hosts gastronomic tours to culinary hot spots around the country. These have included Chicago, Austin, Nashville, Southern Louisiana, and New Mexico. Michael writes the "Fare and Flask" column for Covertsidemagazine and serves on the board of directors of Fairfield County Hounds.
