Grisini Bread or Salt Sticks

Cooking time—20–30 min.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb. plain flour
  • 1 teasp. salt
  • 1 oz. margarine or lard enough warm water to make a fairly stiff dough
  • ½ oz. yeast
  • ½ teasp. sugar
  • 3–4 tablesp. warm milk

Method

Make as for Milk Bread, allow to rise for 1–1½ hr. Form into long sticks 6–8 in. in length and when proved brush with egg white, bake in a hot oven (425° F., Gas 7) until crisp.

If liked, they may be brushed with milk and sprinkled with a little coarse salt before baking.
