Put the tomatoes in a heavy saucepan and add the butter and garlic. Season generously with black pepper. Bring the mixture to the boil and add the broad beans. Bring the mixture to the boil again, then simmer in the open pan for 15–20 minutes or until the sauce has reduced and thickened and the liquid has evaporated.
