If you keep puff pastry in your freezer, and anchovies in the store cupboard, you can make these appetizing little sticks on the spur of the moment. They go ideally with drinks before a meal.


  • 50g (2oz) can of anchovy fillets
  • 1 large garlic clove


Set the oven to preheat at Gas Mark 6/200°C/400°F. Empty the anchovy fillets, together with their oil, into the bowl of a food processor. Add the garlic and parsley and plenty of black pepper and whizz as finely as possible.
