This is a simple, basic sauce to be used in many recipes. It will keep for weeks refrigerated in a covered glass or ceramic container.


  • ½ cup rice vinegar
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • ¼ teaspoon salt


Combine the ingredients listed above in a small saucepan. Stirring with a wooden spoon, cook the sauce over low heat until the sugar and salt melt. Allow the sauce to cool to room temperature before using or storing it.
