Ginger Cake

Clunes, one of the oldest and best supported one-day shows in Victoria, has lots of lovely features that draw crowds every year, but it’s the ginger cake class that has everyone talking. A symbol of the friendly rivalry that can spring up between neighbours, friends and even relatives at show time, it has become a battle for supremacy between three women all using the same recipe.

‘It’s been a standing joke for years and years, this ginger cake business,’ confesses Pat Cook, who unw
