Feeding the chooks and settling them in for the night is not a simple exercise for Elaine Warren. It takes a gopher and a couple of hours for her to see to the 200 or so chickens, ducks and geese that she runs on the family farm near Boorowa in central New South Wales. But she enjoys looking after them, and the bountiful fresh eggs they produce. ‘You have to have an interest,’ she says.
