Bala de vidro, also known as bala baiana, is the Brazilian adaptation of the Portuguese bala de ovo. While the Portuguese use egg yolks to make the candies, Brazilians like to use sweetened condensed milk instead. The creamy, irresistible coconut filling is prepared like a brigadeiro. Once it’s set, it is shaped into balls and coated in hard, crack-stage caramel, creating the glass effect that gives them their name!
Make sure to let the candies cool and dry completely before enjoyin
