Ingredients: 1 Tbsp (15 mL) milk; 1 cup (250 mL) icing sugar, sifted; ½ tsp (2 mL) vanilla extract; ¾ cup (185 mL) sugar; ¼ cup (60 mL) vegetable oil; 1 egg; 2 tsp (10 mL) finely grated fresh ginger; ¾ cup (185 mL) chopped pitted dates; ¾ cup (185 mL) apple cider or apple juice; ½ tsp (2 mL) salt; ¼ tsp (1 mL) ground nutmeg; ¼ tsp (1 mL) ground allspice; 2 Tbsp (30 mL) unsalted butter, at room temperature; 1 cup (250 mL) all-purpose flour; 1 Tbsp (15 mL) cocoa powder; ¾ tsp (4 mL) baking powder; ½ tsp (2 mL) ground cinnamon
