Like many others, this recipe came about when a friend called to ask advice about making a dessert. He wanted a banana cream pie in a hurry. I suggested using a sweet dough and placing the sliced bananas and custard cream in the unbaked piecrust and baking the three together. Then the only work left would be to whip the cream and spread it over the pie. Of course this technique may be used with almost all fruit; many variations follow the recipe.
