The late Betty Shaw, a great baker from Fort Worth, Texas, shared this recipe for a favorite cookie. Using pecans for these makes them “real Texan.”

Ingredients

  • 8 tablespoons (1 stick) unsalted butter
  • 1 cup dark brown sugar

Method

  1. Set a rack at the middle level of the oven. Preheat to 350 degrees.
  2. In an electric mixer, beat together the butter and brown sugar on medium speed until smooth, about 3 minutes. Add the eggs, one at a time, and beat until each is incorporated, scraping
