This is a favorite cake of my friend, Brooklyn-based teacher of Italian cooking, Anna Amendolara Nurse.

Ingredients

  • 8 tablespoons (1 stick) unsalted butter
  • 1 cup sugar

Method

  1. Set a rack at the middle level of the oven and preheat to 325 degrees.
  2. For the cake, in a bowl, beat the butter with the sugar until light. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, beating until smooth after each addition. Beat in the vanilla and lemon extract
