Loosely based on James Beard’s recipe for chocolate roll, this is a great dessert to whip up when you don’t feel like shopping for any special ingredients. Aside from ½ pint of cream, you probably have all the ingredients already. The layer is really a soufflé and you have to wait until it falls in the oven or it will be too moist to roll.
