Battenberg

Although Dad regularly made traditional cakes, he enjoyed adding his own individual touch. One year, he changed the colour and pattern of the Battenberg cake from pink and yellow checks to create a St George’s Cross in maroon and white. St George’s Day is on Mum’s birthday, April 23, so there was always a double celebration.
