Traditional Apple Pie

A slice of homemade hot apple pie with cream is like a cuddle. The lunches in Peter’s may have been described as ‘light’, but the apple pie with cloves was homely and hearty. When Dad showed me how to make this apple pie I was surprised at how easy it was. Apple pie is often served with custard, but Dad only ever served it with whipped cream or ice cream.
