Dad made loaves of various sizes to sell over the counter. He toasted the bread for Welsh rarebit and buck rarebit. He also made wholemeal loaves, white and brown rolls, rye bread, bridge rolls, baps, French sticks, brioche and croissants.
During the bread strikes in the seventies people queued around the corner for bread, and strangers sneaked around the back of the bakehouse begging for a loaf. Never was a baker so popular.
