  • About

This has been one of our most popular breads since we opened in 1992. Its shiny, blistery crust and compact white crumb seem really accessible to a wide range of diners. It is the bread of choice in our bakeshop to serve for our Grilled Cheese Wednesdays. It’s also been one of the two house breads at Zingerman’s Roadhouse since they opened 13 years ago.

Why is it named Better Than San Francisco Sourdough? Isn’t that a pretty arrogant claim? For years we called it San Francisco Sourd
