This is possibly the most popular non-brownie biscuit bar ever. I wanted to experiment with adding a crumb topping to the tart lemon filling and I love the result, but it does add some extra work. Feel free to omit the crumbs if you’re pressed for time.



  1. Set racks in the upper and lower thirds of the oven and preheat to 180°C/gas mark 4.
  2. Line the tin with the dough as in the recipe for Golden Almond Bars. Trim away all but 1cm of the dough on the sides of the tin. Chi
