Brown Sugar Maple Shortbread

There are many recipes for classic shortbread and the variations are unrivaled. This is my favorite because it uses mellow brown sugar, sweet, buttery walnuts (if you like) and just a touch of maple syrup to create some holiday magic. Feel free to add some spices if you’re partial to them, especially in a holiday cookie. If you have a maple leaf shaped cutter, all the better.
