I highly suggest toasting your nuts before adding them to your baked goods, unless they will be sitting right on top and will naturally toast during the baking process. Toasting brings out the natural oils in the nuts and makes them much crisper and more flavorful in texture. This method can also be used for coconut if you want a nuttier flavor. You can use this for any recipe that calls for nuts or coconut.
