Chocolate cake

This chocolate cake can be partnered by a fresh cherry compote - just bring cherries to the boil with granulated sugar and a few drops of lemon juice - to achieve a decent re-working of the idea in pudding form. Alternatively, you could just make a pot of coffee and eat it as cake. Cream is optional but the cake will be better for a dollop of crème fraîche, should your dietary regime allow.
