  • About

The cellophane-wrapped cake slices that have been around forever on lunch counters and snack-food racks are the illegitimate heirs of a simple, noble pound cake with a fine grain and melting texture. Recipe herewith.

Ingredients

  • sticks (12 tablespoons) unsalted butter, at room temperature
  • cup cake flour

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Grease and flour a 4- to 5-cup loaf pan.
  2. Cream the butter till light and smooth; sift in the flours, salt, and mace, beating.
