For the Cake

  • 225 g unsalted butter, softened, plus more for the tin
  • 200 g self-raising flour


Preheat the oven to 180°C/fan 170°C/350°F/gas mark 4. Butter a 20cm, 7.5cm deep round springform cake tin and line the base with baking parchment.

To make the syrup, place the orange juice and muscovado sugar into a small pan and simmer until reduced to a thickis
