This is a popular street snack all over India. Where my father lived in Rajkot there are perhaps ten traders within 30 minutes’ walking distance. It’s a great Biting to have buffet-style so people can make up their own preference of ingredients.

Ingredients

  • 400 g tin chickpeas, drained
  • 400 g tin boiled new potatoes, diced
  • 1

Method

This is so simple – just toss all of the ingredients together so that everything is nicely combined in the tamarind. Then top with however much of the garnish ingredients you fancy. I’d start with a tablespoon of the chutneys and a large handful of sev or Bombay Mix. I also add in avocado, sweetcorn, grilled courgettes, sweet potato or whatever else is in our fridge.
