The first show at Burra was most likely held in 1877, just a few weeks before the great Burra Burra Copper Mine finally ceased operations. Although the catalogue of competitive classes were limited and the weather drizzly, a large crowd gathered in the town’s old smelting works to enjoy the spectacle.
