Cookery was not on the programme when 600 people gathered in ‘admirable’ weather for the first livestock show and ploughing match at Eudunda. Four years later, in 1900, German cake, pickles and jam lined up alongside best-ironed white shirts and crocheted petticoats in the ‘Miscellaneous Section’.
