The program for the very first Kimba show in 1921 reflects two worlds; one about to disappear from rural Australian communities and the other emerging in a rush of technological change that would alter farming forever. Lining up in the horse section are classes for the best pair of plough horses and team of four draught horses in a wagon. Towards the back of the program is an advertisement for the new Ford one-ton truck: ‘For bringing the City markets nearer . . . Displace your three horses
