People travelled far and wide to eat Heather Nettle’s homemade pies, pasties and sausage rolls when she baked for the general store at Wangary, on the southern tip of Eyre Peninsula. ‘We used to have people from Adelaide ring up to order a heap to take back home with them when they were visiting,’ she recalls. Heather and her late husband ran the store for eighteen years after moving from Adelaide, and later set up a biscuit shop in Port Lincoln.
