Liquid smoke extract intensifies the smoky treacle flavour of these sticky toffee puds. And I love the drama of serving a monochrome, almost black and white, pudding to my guests.
For a truly dramatic contrast, you could add a little black food colouring to the toffee sauce, as the vivid black sauce would look very striking against the white of the cream, but that’s up to you. I think they look just gorgeous as they are.
