Capeta means “devil”, so that sort of gives you an idea of what you will be getting yourself into! Originating in the north-east region of Brazil, it became very popular because it started to be widely drunk during the Carnival in Porto Seguro in the state of Bahia. The city of Porto Seguro is where the first fleet of ships from Portugal lowered their anchors back in the 1500s. And, of course, because of its popularity it easily spread all over Brazil.
