A fragrant braided loaf flavoured with your favourite fresh herb combination. Finely chopped herbs flavour the Challah dough wonderfully without any chunky additions that would make rolling strands and braiding difficult.

Ingredients

  • 490 g (1 lb oz) strong white bread flour
  • 40 g ( oz) sugar
  • 2 egg yolks, large
  • 1 egg, large
  • 40 ml/37 g ( fl oz/ oz) vegetable oil
  • 160 ml/160 g ( fl oz/ oz) water, cold
  • tsp salt
  • tsp fast action yeast
  • 5 tbsp fresh mixed herbs such as basil, oregano, parsley and tarragon, finely chopped
  • Oil for greasing

Method

  1. Follow the Challah method but add 5 tablespoons of finely chopped fresh herbs to the bowl of ingredients before mixing to a rough dough.
