The original garlic bread, bruschetta are thick slices of chewy day-old bread that are toasted under the broiler or grilled over a wood or charcoal fire. A large clove of garlic is rubbed over the sandpaper-like surface of the toasted slices until the clove disappears completely into the pores of the bread.
