French toast is a great way to use up day-old bread—the drier the slices, the more they will absorb the egg mixture. Egg-enriched doughs such as challah or brioche produce a richly decadent dish, but you can swap in any soft-crusted country-style white bread. This is also delicious served with Blueberry Compote or fresh mixed berries.
