  • 1 onion, peeled and halved
  • 3 cloves
  • 3 bay leaves

Method

  1. Stud one of the onion halves with the cloves, pushing each one through a bay leaf into the onion. Finely dice the other onion half.
  2. Heat half of the butter in a saucepan, add the diced onion and cook until soft. Add the milk, studded onion half, nutmeg and seasoning. Bring to the boil, lower the heat and simmer for 15 minutes. Remove from the heat and leave to
