This is a lovely summer dish, which can be offered as a starter, lunchtime ‘snack’ or main course.
The radish is a member of the mustard family, obviously the reason for the bite they carry. There are many varieties, the most common of which are the round scarlet globe and the milder long red and white. The latter is known as the French breakfast radish, though why I’m not quite sure, as I’ve yet to see a Frenchman eating them for breakfast.
