The Brownie Base for this recipe is one of the basics that I use as a springboard for other brownie recipes. Almonds are optional in the batter.

Ingredients

Brownie Base

  • ¼ cup unsalted butter
  • cup granulated sugar

Method

Heat oven to 350 degrees. Lightly grease a 9" square pan.

For the Brownie Base

Melt the butter in a medium saucepan. Remove from heat, whisking in sugar and cocoa powder until combined.
