Ingredients: 1 tsp. pure almond extract; ¼ cup granulated sugar; 2 tbsp. unsalted butter, softened to room temperature; 2½ oz. semisweet chocolate, coarsely chopped; 1 cup confectioners’ sugar, sifted; ½ tsp. pure vanilla extract; ¼ cup firmly packed light brown sugar; ¼ cup heavy (whipping) cream; 5 oz. semisweet chocolate, coarsely chopped; ½ cup unsalted butter, softened to room temperature; 1 cup superfine sugar; 4 large eggs, separated; 2 tbsp. espresso, brewed; 1 cup finely chopped almonds; 1 cup unbleached, all-purpose flour
