Secretly, we all wish for a cake base while we’re eating that banana split, and a brownie base seems to me to be the perfect solution to this dilemma!
Heat oven to 350 degrees. Lightly grease a 13x9" baking pan.
Melt the chocolate and butter in a medium saucepan over low heat, stirring to blend.
Remove saucepan from heat. Whisk in sugar, eggs, and vanilla.
Stir in flour, baking powder, and salt. Spread into prepared pan.
