Yield: Makes about 2½ dozen.
Ingredients: 1 extra large egg, lightly beaten; 4 oz. cream cheese, softened to room temperature; ¼ cup granulated sugar; 1¼ cups unbleached, all-purpose flour; 1 tsp. pure vanilla extract; ⅔ cup unsalted butter; 4 oz. unsweetened chocolate, coarsely chopped; 4 large eggs, lightly beaten; 2 cups granulated sugar; 1 tsp. baking powder; 1 tsp. salt; 5 oz. bittersweet chocolate, coarsely chopped; 3 tbsp. unsalted butter, softened to room temperature; 1 tbsp. + 1 tsp. unbleached, all-purpose flour; ½ tsp. pure vanilla extract

Method

Heat oven to 350 degrees. Lightly grease a 13x9" baking pan.

Melt the chocolate and butter in a medium saucepan over low heat, stirring to blend. Remove saucepan from heat. With an electric mixer, beat in sugar, eggs, and vanilla on medium-high speed until mixture is thick and well blended.
