Cranberry Sauce with Honey

This sauce is tart and sweet and spicy and sassy . . . perfect for pairing with my Brownie Shortcakes and ice cream in the winter months, when fresh berries aren’t in season.

Ingredients

Sauce Base

  • cups 100 percent cranberry juice
  • ¾ cup honey (clover, orange blossom, or tupelo

Method

For the Sauce Base

In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine the juice, honey, and zests. Simmer, whisking occasionally, for 5 minutes.

Stir in cinnamon, salt, pepper, and ginger. Simmer, whisking occasionally to blend, for an additional 5 minutes.
