A friend of mine liked to use this atop soft cookies, until one day I introduced her to my version—atop brownies. She’s never been the same.
Combine the butter and sugars in a small saucepan. Stir over low heat until butter is melted and sugars are combined. Bring to a boil over high heat. Reduce to a simmer and cook, stirring constantly, for 3 minutes.
