  • About

Penuche fudge is a favorite of my husband, John’s—and frosting is so much easier to make! Enjoy this caramel-flavored frosting atop any of my anything-but-plain classic brownies. Just like fudge, this frosting firms up quickly, so don’t delay the spreading.

Ingredients

Frosting

  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened to room temperature
  • 1 cup firmly packed light brown sugar

Method

For the Frosting

Melt the butter in a medium saucepan.

Stir in brown sugar to combine. Cook mixture until sugar is dissolved and mixture is smooth.

Remove saucepan from heat. Whisk in milk, beating vigorously until smooth. Add confectioners’ sugar, whisking or beating with an electric mixer until frosting is spreadable (adding milk if needed
