These are so much tastier than shop-bought baked beans! We always have them on the menu as everyone loves them. You could use dried beans here, but it’s much easier to use tinned, the unsung heroes of the larder. They taste just as good and you can make this in a fraction of the time.

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • ½ small onion, finely diced
  • 1 garlic clove, finely chopped

Method

Preheat your oven to 180°C fan. Put the oil and onion in a large, ovenproof pot and sweat for 5 to 10 minutes over a medium heat until the onion is translucent. Add the chopped garlic and bay leaf, then turn the heat down to low and cook for another 5 minutes. Be careful not to burn th
