You’ll find kasha (roasted buckwheat groats) in most health food stores - I love kasha made into falafel-style burgers and even big meat lovers will find they make vegetarian eating a real pleasure. Char the corn cobs on the grill for a wonderful smoky relish.

Ingredients

  • 90 g whole grain kasha (roasted buckwheat groats)
  • 1 egg
  • 10 g

Method

  1. Place the kasha and egg in a small bowl and leave to stand for 10 minutes.
  2. Melt the butter in a frying pan over moderate heat. Add the vegetables and garlic and fry for 8 minutes until soft. Add the kasha and fry for 3-4 minutes until the kasha is golden.
  3. Add 300ml water, bring to the boil, season with a little salt, cover and simmer for 15-20 minutes
