A traditional dish that goes back a long way. In Malay households fish is generally served on a Monday after the rich spicy foods eaten on the weekend.

  • 1 kg dried salted snoek water
  • 2 onions, thinly sliced
  • 30 ml

Soak snoek in water for 1 hour. Drain, cover with fresh water and boil until cooked, about 15 minutes. Meanwhile, braise onions in heated oil until quite brown, about 10 minutes.
